Daylight published the Philanthropic Advising Competency Model to help shape a more modern and rigorous understanding of what effective philanthropic advising requires. As part of this work, we outlined the nine components of a philanthropic plan—designed to help clients deploy their resources with greater intention, meaning, and impact. Each component includes example deliverables and the competencies practitioners need to execute them effectively.

While not every advisor or firm offers every element—or follows a fixed planning sequence—today’s practitioners are increasingly expected to be conversant across the full spectrum of philanthropic planning. This broader awareness enables advisors to recognize when collaboration with complementary specialists is needed to best serve a client’s goals.

In this interactive session, participants will work through the nine components using a case study to better understand how philanthropic plans are designed. Whether serving as a gift planner, wealth advisor, attorney, or nonprofit leader, attendees will gain insight into where and how they can play a meaningful role in supporting more intentional and impactful philanthropy.
